Celina, Mercer County -
A man accused of killing his 26 year old girlfriend in Rockford last November sees his day in court before a Mercer County judge.
Your News Now was the only camera in the court room as Daniel C. Martin changed his plea to guilty on one count of murder for the death of Melinda Shin. Martin faces a sentence of 15 years to life in prison plus an additional 3 years because a gun was used in the murder. He must also pay a fifteen thousand dollar fine. After the slaying, Martin fled from the scene and was later picked up by police in Fort Wayne.
Family members of Melinda Shin say they are relieved at the outcome of today's events. Sentencing for Martin is scheduled for June 27th at 9 AM.
