Posted: Updated:

Republicans from Logan, Hardin, Hancock and Champaign counties, attending a get together in West Liberty today.

Sam Shriver has more the challenges facing state Republicans in the near future.

Matt Borges elected chairman of the Ohio Republican Party recently was getting a chance to meet party faithful Sunday at a Republican Picnic at the West Liberty Lions Club Park.

Borges replaced long time party chief Bob Bennett who recently retired.

Borges says the Republican Party is still challenged by the president's re-election in November.

State Senator Cliff Hite of Findlay also attended the picnic, getting a chance to meet some of his supporters.

Passage of a new state budget is on the minds of many legislators, something that is expected to happen as early as Thursday, according to Hite.

State Representative Robert Sprague says one item the governor wanted in the budget, the expansion of Medicaid, won't be in this budget, but may be considered through a separate bill.
