Last week the democratically controlled U.S. Senate approved a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
The bill would open the door to citizenship for millions of people here illegally and would pour millions of dollars into fortifying the U.S. border.
The bill faces an uncertain future in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Democratic senator Sherrod Brown says their Immigration Reform Bill is something the House should at least consider.
House speaker John Boehner of Ohio says the republican controlled House is likely to come up with a bill of their own, substantially different than the Senate version.
