Update: Local Business Destroyed in Fire

Posted: Updated:

Six fire departments responded to a call here on Dutch Hollow Rd. in Elida around 4:15 this morning. This local business was destroyed but luckily no one was inside at the time of the fire.

It took an hour and a half and 60 firefighters to contain the blazes after the Cabinet Shop and Mill Works located on Dutch Hollow Rd. went up in flames. Fire departments that were called to assist with the fire included Shawnee, Delphos, Spencerville, American Township, Bath Township, and Fort Jennings.
Although no one was in the building at the time and there were originally no injuries reported, one firefighter from Bath township obtained one minor injury at the scene. He stepped on a nail and was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center in stable condition.
Crews are expected to be on the scene throughout the day to put out hot spots and investigate the cause of the fire. The fire marshall is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
The owners of the Cabinet Shop and Mill Works decided not to comment at the scene due to the severity of the event only hours before.
