The man accused of stabbing a Lima Police Officer in the head with a screwdriver is back in court.
John Heffner waiving his right to a speedy trial during a hearing in Allen County Common Pleas Court. Heffner is charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon. Heffner allegedly stabbed Sergeant David Gillispie in the side of the head on March 27th.
The police department believes it was an attempt to commit suicide by cop. The results of a mental competency examination were also given to Judge Jeffrey Reed. However, he has yet to rule on Heffner's mental status.
