With the temperatures soaring into the 90's this week the Lima Allen Council of Community Affairs is hoping those eligible will apply for the Summer Crisis Program.
If you are 60 years or older you could get a room air conditioner to help in this searing heat. You can also get help in paying your electric bill if you do already have air. Marva Cowan, Centralized Intake Director at LACCA says she is surprised at the low number of people that have applied for the Summer Crisis Program but feels with the high temperatures this week the phones will be ringing. She also wants people to take note of one important change in eligibility for PIPP, percentage of income payment participants as they will have to make a co-payment depending on eligibility.
That co-payment must be made prior to the assistance.
To set up an appointment you can call 1-855-286-7559 or they will take the first 10 walk-in's each day. You can also go online at http://www.lacca.org/ and look under programs to find out eligibility qualifications. Any applicant must meet federal poverty guideline requirements. The program runs through August 31st.
