A quick recovery for some crops that were damaged by
recent severe weather. Ohio State University Extension Agent Curtis Young
says many of the corn fields in Van Wert that were damaged by strong
winds earlier this month have rebounded.
Stalks in many fields were
either blown over or snapped. Young says, fortunately many of the bent
stalks have stood back up on their own. He says corn is currently in
the pollination stage, and if the weather continues to cooperate, there
is great potential for a high number of kernels in each ear. However,
there's one type of corn that is not responding quite as well.
