A four year renovation project is coming to an end at
a south side Lima church and the celebration is ready to begin. One
of the last projects at St. John's Catholic Church on South Main
Street is in place and getting finishing touches. This 2500
pound marble altar and pulpit arrived from Italy this week.
Installing them has been a challenge but well worth it according to Father David Ross.
The congregation has been waiting for over a year
for the pieces and the restoration celebration is scheduled for this Saturday. The Lima Symphony Orchestra will be performing "Baroque
by Candlelight" at the church. Father Ross says that the renovation
project was a group effort and beneficial to the neighborhood. Baroque
by Candlelight is this Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. and it's free and
open to the public.
