Shawnee Township, Ohio -
The only neighborhood in Shawnee Township to have its own park has seen a change and residents are fired up about seeing a park that was built with a grant in 1997 that was taken away piece by piece.
Kimberly Dailey has been a resident of the neighborhood for 23 years and she has seen all of her children play in a park the neighborhood worked together to get and it is a change that will not be easy for her.
The Shawnee Board of Trustees say the decision to breakdown the playground was an on-going battle that ultimately had to be done due to funding issues and maintenance that was hard to keep up with.
Chipman Park will still have a shelter and picnic table after fencing and playground equipment are gone.
Trustees say they are hoping to place some landscaping in the park area and an auction for the park equipment will be held on October 5th at the Old Fort Shawnee building.
