LIMA, OHIO -
Members of the AAUW were in a bind after their annual sale ended this weekend, but a group of young men stepped up to become the heroes of their saga.
Every year, the Lima chapter of the American Association of University women hosts a summer book sale. When the sale is done, the excess inventory is packed into a semi and sent to Indianapolis. A company there sells the remainder of the books and gives a portion of the proceeds back to the AAUW. However, the company delayed the pickup, presenting challenges to getting the books on the truck.
So the baseball team from the University of Northwestern Ohio was called to do some heavy lifting and loading. About 35 baseball players showed up to help with the moving process. The AAUW members donated some of sale proceeds to the team and allowed the young men to search for a few books as a thank you.
