Breaking a Mental Sweat

Elida Ohio -

With temperatures reaching into the upper 90's, students at Elida Elementary School are doing all they can to keep cool. With no air conditioning system in the building, the windows were open, fans were circulating air in the hallways, teachers ran multiple fans during class, and lights were turned off.

Superintendent Don Diglia says while a reasonable solution would be to install AC units, it's just not feasible. Diglia says the building's current electrical system wouldn't be able to sustain all of the units.

Students had some fun Tuesday afternoon as school officials threw a popsicle party to keep the children hydrated and cooled off. Students and teachers enjoyed their icy treats before packing up and heading home.

With Wednesday's high forecasted in the mid 90s, students are being asked to bring in water bottles, or to take frequent water breaks.
