New Bremen teen reported missing, schools locked down

LIMA, OHIO -

Police are searching for a 17 year old New Bremen High School student who apparently ran away from home.

Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon says the teen was reported missing around 7:00 a.m. Thursday by his father.  Cash and a pickup truck were also reported missing from the teen's grandmother's home in Shelby County.  A rifle and shotgun might have been taken from the grandmother's residence as well.

As a precaution, Minster and New Bremen schools were locked down between 9:30 and 1:30 Thursday.  New Bremen superintendent Howard Overman says school went on as normal, but access in and out of the buildings were restricted.  Solomon says the teen did not threaten harm to any student or school official.   A message was sent out to parents notifying them of the lockdown.  The Minster and New Bremen police departments are assisting in the search.

A description of the missing vehicle has been released.  It is a 1977 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that is maroon in color.  The license plate number is ENM 9083.

Anyone with information on the missing teen is asked to call the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office at 419-739-6565.
