Jacobs Primary school has had the original landscaping since it first opened in 1956. Now it has an extreme exterior makeover which was done in just four to five hours.
140 employees from Lowe's volunteered their time to do a landscape makeover for Jacobs. The principal of the school, Melissa Ramirez, says she wanted to apply for a grant, but the Lowes store offered to include the school in their Heroes project; and she says this is an opportunity which will teach the students many values.
Ramirez says the extreme makeover of the school was well needed and hopes it gives the community a new sense of pride.
Lowes will be submitting the Jacobs Primary project to the national and regional Lowes' Heroes Competitions.
Parents of Jacobs students are invited to attend a ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday to thank the Lowes' staff.
