Wood-carved angel overlooks cemetery

LIMA, OHIO -

An angel is now overlooking the grounds at one Lima cemetery.  Bluffton resident, John Guagenti carved a trumpet playing angel out of a tree trunk at Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima.

The sculpture is being carved with a chainsaw out of a maple tree that was scheduled to be cut down.  However, cemetery director, Daniel Gallagher commissioned the carving instead.

Guagenti is relatively new to chainsaw carving.  He started his business, On Track Carvings, in June.  Guagenti says cemetery visitors are honking their horns and giving him the thumbs up as they pass by the piece.
