Lima, OH -
The current building is forty years old, and it sees a lot of traffic. Today, the Allen County Commissioners were asked to approve a grant application to study possible improvements at the Juvenile Detention Center. The thirty bed facility houses a single classroom and a long term treatment program, so the facility is always at capacity. Every day, a handful of youths are housed at the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center in Williams County at additional expense to the county. Innovative programs have been started, and continue at the center. It is hoped that with improvements, Allen County will be less dependant on other counties. Allen County Commissioners approved the 25 thousand dollar resolution. It will follow a 60 - 40 split, with the state paying 15 thousand, and Allen County covering the remaining 10 thousand.
