Deer-Gun Season Starting Up

Posted: Updated:

Ohio's deer-gun season kicks off on Monday with extended times for hunting. Deer-gun season starts on Monday December 2nd, and runs through Sunday December 8th. Hunters were already allowed to hunt deer 30 minutes before sunrise, but this year they have an additional 30 minutes after sunset.

Last year nearly  87,000 deer were checked and similar numbers are expected to be harvested this year. The ODNR Division of Wildlife reminds hunters that this week deer can be killed with a plugged shotgun (capable of holding no more than 3 slugs), a muzzleloader (.38 caliber or larger), a hand gun (.357 caliber or larger) and bows.
