Lima Ohio -
The Lima Police Department has been selected by Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine, to implement "Badges for Baseball," a program that brings cops and kids together to play and learn.
The program was developed by the Cal Ripken Foundation, and targets areas with high rates of juvenile crime and related issues. The program was implemented for the first time this year at South Science Technology Magnet, and brings 17 fifth and sixth grade students together with three Lima Police Officers.
While in the eight week program, students meet with officers twice a week to learn lessons about teamwork, communication, respect, leadership and making healthy choices.
