LIMA, OHIO -
Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish is upgrading the department's aging fleet. The three new Ford Interceptors purchased for the sheriff's office have a local connection. The vehicles are powered by engines made at the Lima engine plant.
The Lima Police Department also uses Ford Interceptors. Seven are currently on the road, and an eighth is on order. The sheriff's department is also hoping to order more next year.
The plant has made about three million of the type of engines used in the Interceptors. However, the plant has an even bigger milestone to celebrate in 2014. By year end, 400 million engines will have been made at the plant.
