Road Construction Moving Along

Posted: Updated:

The orange barrel season seems to be year round lately as major road construction projects continue in the Lima area.

The motoring public will find travel on 309 East a little easier in a couple of weeks but it's just temporary. All lanes will be open as crews will finish the bridge embankments but lane restrictions will be back when temperatures rise and permanent pavement is laid down.

Progress is being made on the interstate from 4th Street to State Route 81 and work will begin soon at the Breese Road exit. Slusher says they will continue to maintain 2 lanes on the interstate throughout the construction. They hope construction from 4th to 81 will be complete by November 1st as they have a "no excuse" policy with the contractor which will give them a 1.5 million dollar bonus by finishing early.
