OTTAWA, OHIO -
Pathways Counseling Center has been providing comprehensive mental health, as well as alcohol and drug services, to Putnam County residents since the 70's. Executive Director, Aaron Baumgartner, says the name and location of the facility has changed over the years, but the services continue to revolve around prevention, treatment and education. The focus must remain on Putnam County, despite what is being pushed from larger cities such as Columbus.
Pathways offers counseling to adults and adolescents, suffering from a variety of problems. Baumgartner says Pathways helps people reach goals of happiness, better marriages, etc. For adolescents, goals of better grades and bullying are addressed.
Pathways treats an average of one thousand people a year, and is always training staff members on new areas of counseling, involving mental health issues and cyberbullying.
