It was appropriate on D-Day that the Lima Eagles made a one thousand dollar donation to the Allen County Memorial Foundation. Ninety percent of the donation will be used in program funds to build the war memorial. The concept behind the memorial is to honor AllenCounty veterans from all wars and branches dating back to the Civil War. Sisters of two different fallen soldiers from Vietnam received the check on behalf of the foundation. Having a local memorial to pay tribute to soldiers is important to them and the community.
The location is yet to be determined but the design is being developed with an expert on war memorial design. The Eagles also plan on making a donation to the Veteran’s pantry that was vandalized this past week.
