Alexandria Chapin - Lima, OH News Weather Sports

Alexandria Chapin

It’s great to be back in Lima! I grew up in Celina, Ohio and graduated from high school in 2009. I always knew I wanted to work in broadcast and deliver the news to my community!

I went to Columbus and attended THE Ohio State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Journalism and Media Production. While I was there I was involved with Ohio State’s student-run television station, Buckeye TV. I started out behind-the-scenes but eventually got a chance to report on camera! I anchored “Buckeye News Now” for 3 years and had the opportunity to be the News Director and during my last year, the Station Manager. I was able to oversee every operation of the station including all departments. One of my favorite interviews I conducted was with Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri.

During football season, I was reporting from the sidelines of Buckeyes games at the Horseshoe and court-side for basketball season. In my last year, “Buckeye News Now” placed as a finalist in the Society of Professional Journalists College Awards for Best Overall Newscast. My story on a Wexner Medical Center doctor charged with child pornography was a finalist for Best In-Depth Reporting. When I wasn't at Buckeye TV, I interned at both 10TV and NBC 4 in Columbus where I got all the excitement of a professional newsroom! I also wrote for Ohio State’s student newspaper, The Lantern, where I gained valuable journalism experience.

I was so excited when I was offered the chance to anchor and produce the weekend newscasts in my hometown area. After about a year working as the weekend anchor, I was offered the 6 & 11 p.m. co-anchor position.

Although I anchor in the evenings, I’m very much a morning person and a coffee drinker. I love dogs, so when I’m not at the station I’m with my 6-year-old boxer, Roy. In my free time I’m spending time with my family, shopping with my mom, decorating, organizing and watching football. In the summer, I spend my days off boating on Grand Lake in Celina. Follow me on Twitter to stay connected with my stories and give me your ideas and feedback. I want to know what’s going on in your community. You can also email me at
