Martin Luther King Jr. lit the torch of justice for millions to follow, and now the Lima community is invited to come out and celebrate the dream. On Monday, many Allen County residents will have the day off, but don't let that stop you from waking up early to grab some breakfast and keep the dream of Doctor King alive. Presented by the Sigma Mu Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The 20th Annual MLK Memorial Breakfast will be held at the Civic Center downtown. The event will begin at 8 a.m. Special guests this year include Bluffton University Gospel Choir and speaker Reverend Michael Lyons. During the breakfast they are also collecting donations of hats, gloves and socks for LACCA. This year's theme is "Dream in Dimensions" which is to take King's message and apply it to the different aspects of life. This is also the Chapter's 25th anniversary.
Tickets for the event are on sale now at Jones-Clark Funeral Home and can be purchased from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Ten dollars for adults and five dollars for children. Remember to bring hats, gloves, or socks of all sizes to donate to LACCA call 419-224-1767 for ticket information.
