Kai Malcolm has been playing chess since he was 8 years old.
At age 15 he’s found playing the game is still enjoyable and he’s imparting his knowledge to younger players.
Saturday was the first day of a new chess league that is targeting kids in elementary through 12th grade.
Chess League organizer Ken Malcolm agrees the game of chess can get kids to think ahead, like trying to anticipate what could happen if they make a certain move.
The new Chess League will meet the second Saturday of every month at Lima Community Church between 9:30 and 11:30 in the morning.
