COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Supreme Court is weighing arguments from an ex-death row inmate that the state's capital punishment law is unconstitutional because of judges' roles in handing down death sentences. Convicted killer Maurice Mason says the U.S. Constitution requires juries to impose death sentences. Justices have scheduled a hearing for Tuesday morning.

FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) - A university in southwest Ohio facing budget problems will host a community forum to discuss those budgetary issues. Wright State University trustees recently approved nearly $31 million in budget cuts to address $120 million in overspending during the past five years. Administrators have said Wright State may be able to stay off state fiscal watch if it manages to remain on budget. The forum will be Wednesday at the school's Student Union.

HARTVILLE, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio man who told authorities that his wife died on a trip to Elvis Presley's Graceland and he turned her body over to EMS workers, now says he put her body in the Tennessee River after she died of natural causes. Police in Hartville say 72-year-old Philip Snider had previously told them that Roberta Snider died in a Memphis, Tennessee, parking lot in early January and he flagged down an ambulance, but didn't know where they took her. Authorities continue to search for the woman.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio man who admitted receiving training in Syria to kill members of the U.S. military and then plotting to carry out an attack has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. The defendant apologized to his family and to the U.S. in remarks in federal court in Columbus on Monday. Judge Michael Watson cited the seriousness of the crime and the need to deter others considering similar action.
