COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A spurned applicant for a medical marijuana grower's license has announced plans for a 2018 Ohio ballot issue to legalize the sale and possession of marijuana. The proposal by CannAscend CEO Jimmy Gould would make growing, processing, possessing, selling and using marijuana legal. Gould has criticized the Ohio Department of Commerce for hiring a consultant with a Pennsylvania drug conviction to help select medical marijuana growers, but the department has rejected his criticism.
CINCINNATI (AP) - Congressman Jim Renacci chose a female former Procter & Gamble Co. executive as his Republican running mate for Ohio governor while Monday asserting his continued support for President Donald Trump. Renacci, a wealthy businessman, and Cincinnati Councilwoman Amy Murray will run under the slogan: "Back 2 Business, Not Business As Usual." Renacci said he wanted a "strong, successful business leader" for the campaign.
HOUCKTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say two people died in a mobile home fire in northwest Ohio. The (Findlay) Courier newspaper reports that fire departments and police responded at around 2 a.m. EST Sunday to a fire report. Two bodies were found inside after the fire was put out. The Ohio state fire marshal and Hancock County coroner and sheriff's office are investigating the fire's cause
CINCINNATI (AP) - Police in Cincinnati say two people have been died after an early morning shooting. Police responded around 1 a.m. EST in the Roselawn neighborhood after a call of a shooting and a crashed vehicle. One adult was pronounced dead at the scene and another died at a hospital
