The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo got a little dirty today to raise money and awareness for a great cause.
Their 3rd annual Mud Volleyball Tournament at Ada War Memorial Park features teams from northwest Ohio and beyond. Up to 2015, the tournament had raised $8,900 for the local Down syndrome Association. But the executive director says money isn't the only important part about this tournament.
"Our organization, we serve families in 17 counties throughout northwest Ohio and this is the most southern part of it. So for us, yes, it's a fundraiser, but the awareness is huge. We want to connect with families and supporters that are in these counties," said Renee Canfield, executive director of The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo.
More than a dozen teams participated in the tournament.
