One church here in Lima set aside a special time of prayer Sunday morning for those that are thinking about suicide.
With the increase of suicides in the area, one member of Westside United Methodist brought up the idea to pray for those considering suicide. The pastor then invited churches all over the area to include a special prayer in their service to remember those lost and to help those who are suffering. The church hopes this type of prayer will help cut down on the number of suicides by showing people that there is help in the community.
"Those things are a negative momentum, they really are - one does it, and then more and more - and what we're trying to do is break that cycle and make it a positive, faith-filled cycle for youth to make positive choices and realize that people really do care about them," said Westside UMC pastor Bill Cronk.
The church hopes to continue this set aside prayer time in the future.
