Some much needed assistance is on the way for drug addicts who need help.

U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio announced last week that Ohio is eligible to receive $150,000 for additional recovery services under a new grant program authorized as part of his bipartisan Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act or CARA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is expected to award 10 grants totaling $1.5 million dollars for the remainder of fiscal year 2017.

Additional grant funding will be available for Ohio and other states in future fiscal years.

This marks the first time ever that the federal government will Support Recovery Support Services.

Recovery Community Organizations have until March 20th to apply for the grants under the CARA program.
