Lima Ohio -

Preparing for college can be tough for parents and students alike, but a local program is trying to ease that burden.

The Lima City Schools' Most Valuable Parent program invited grades five through twelve and their parents to attend Destination College Night at the New Life Church International in Lima. The event was organized to help families begin the planning process for college, whether their students are a year away from their high school graduation or still in middle school. Those attending received valuable resources, scholarship information, multiple prize opportunities, and a free meal.

Jackie Blosser, the Title 1 Coordinator at Lima City Schools says, "7th and 8th graders taking high school classes, earning credits then so when they move onto high school they have an opportunity to do college credits plus."

Participation by colleges from all over the region offered attending parents multiple perspectives for preparation of their young students' futures.
