Law students from Afghanistan had the chance to meet with American judges this morning at Ohio Northern University.

The students traveled to the United States for the upcoming Jessup Law Competition in Washington D.C. and were at the university to prepare their arguments for the competition. Members of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces met with the Afghan students to answer questions. Being able to meet with judges at ONU is the perfect way for the students to see how the judicial system works in the United States.

"Afghanistan has a lot of issues with them having access to information and access to people that can give them strong guidance on some of the judicial issues, so one of the things that's really fantastic for them with this program is, especially today with these justices, is the ability to discuss transparency in the judicial system," said Mara Smith, Administrator of the Afghanistan Jessup Moot Court Program.

The students will move onto Washington D.C. this weekend.
