Children's Garden receives grant money

The Children's Garden is planning some changes, thanks to some grant money.

The garden was awarded $10,000 from the Seeds of Change Program after being reviewed by the public and a panel of judges.  The garden was chosen from nearly 600 applicants from all over the country.  While education is an important part of what the money will be used for, supplies for the garden's upkeep will be a major focus, too.

"We still need supplies we need the lumber to rebuild our raised vegetable bed I need an arborist to come in and treat our original Johnny Appleseed tree, it has some fire blight in it, and that's something we need a professional to do," said Gretchen Staley, Volunteer Coordinator of the Allen Co. Master Gardener Volunteers.

Visitors can expect to see big changes coming to the garden next spring.
