Donate Blood During Trauma Awareness Month

Posted:

May is Trauma Awareness Month and the American Red Cross is urging people to donate so they are ready for a trauma situation. Traumatic injuries often result in an urgent need for blood, making type O negative blood and type A-B Plasma much in demand, because hospitals don't have time to check the patient's blood type before hand. These universal types can save lives by avoiding time constraints.

In addition, everyone who comes to donate now through September 4 can receive an exclusive Cedar Fair ticket offer that helps support the Red Cross, and enter to win one of two grand prize packages for four to Knott’s Berry Farm in California or Cedar Point in Ohio. Blood drive participants can go to redcrossblood.org/cedarfair to purchase discounted tickets for gate admission and enter to win one of the two grand prize packages. For each ticket purchased through the website, Cedar Fair will donate $2 to the Red Cross to support its humanitarian mission. Terms and conditions apply and are available at redcrossblood.org/cedarfair.

Make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Donors can then also visit redcrossblood.org/cedarfair to enter to win one of three grand prize packages for four to Knott’s Berry Farm in California or Cedar Point in Ohio.
