With the end of the school year upon us area law enforcement wants to remind parents and students that curfews will be changing soon.

Lima-Allen County along with the townships and several villages have a standard summer curfew for minors and it will begin on Thursday, June 1st. Any children 12 or younger needs to be at home by 9 p.m. Those ages 13, 14, and 15 have until 10 p.m. 16 and 17 year olds will need to be home by midnight. Parents are responsible to make sure their child follows the curfew. Police officials say the curfew is a way to try and keep these young adults safe and out of trouble.

"It is a protection for the kids in the neighborhoods. We want them to be inside at home with family where they're going to be safe. When it gets later sometimes there are things going on in the neighborhoods that they don't need to be a part of and we want to protect them from that. We also want to keep them from getting involved in things that could become criminal activity," commented Lt. Andy Green.

Green says employed teens who are coming from and going to work are exempt.
