It has welcomed visitors to Lima and Allen County for 27 years with this year being a little special.

Friday's opening of the Blue Caboose behind Howard Johnson on Roschman Avenue also marks the 25th year the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals have come to the Allen County Fairgrounds. This event alone is estimated to attract 40,000 spectators. The Caboose offers these visitors a place to get information about attractions and restaurants. Drivers with the 4-Wheel Jamboree say they enjoy coming to Lima Allen County every year.

"It's like our home away from home. We enjoy coming out here, everybody is great, whether we're at the fairgrounds meeting fans, or going out to dinner somewhere here, everybody is very welcoming and it's great to be here," said driver of Big Foot, Larry Swim.

The Blue Caboose is owned and managed by the Lima Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau. It is staffed with volunteers that meet and greet those stopping in. Besides information there are great Lima Allen County novelty items for sale. Last year the Caboose saw people from 32 states and 6 countries.
