The Lima teen accused of shooting a man to death during a robbery is considering a plea deal to possibly reduce his jail time.

19-year-old Jayleon'tre Harris appeared before Judge Jeffrey Reed to hear the prosecution's deal. If Harris pleads guilty to the aggravated murder charge with a 3-year firearm specification, the charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery would be dropped. The prosecution also said they would drop the life without parole sentence, if he pleads guilty. Harris allegedly shot and killed 46-year-old Eric Staup during an attempted robbery in May of 2016.

The trial is still set for July 25th, but Judge Reed noted that it could be pushed back if schedules conflict during that week.
