The Transit Authority is one step closer to putting a 0.25% levy tax measure on the ballot this November.

An official resolution was signed today to move forward with the vote. If put through by Allen County voters, the RTA would receive 4.2 million dollars toward their budget each year for ten years. The Regional Transit Authority has lost one million dollars in funding from last year and say the money is needed because ridership is up. RTA Director, Shelia Haney says this is a step in the right direction, but a lot of work is still ahead for them to keep all buses and routes running.

"With the consideration of our ridership that continues to rise, we were up over 9% last year. We had over 386,000 riders for the year of 2016, so it's really hard to start talking about cutting back services when there's obviously a need for that in this community, and so this was really our only option," commented Haney.
