The first step toward Allen County's 2018 budget is accepted as commissioners hear from the county auditor.

The county's general fund is 63% funded from sales tax which seems to be strong mid-year, and Eddy-Stienecker believes it will close the year strong. As for other revenue sources, there is some uncertainty.

"As we get closer to the end of the year, I'll work closely with the commissioners and give those revenue numbers and we'll have a better idea if the state budget's going to be passed, what dollars are going to come back to us from like I said local government, are they going to change anything on that managed medicare sales tax, and we'll have some better numbers," commented Rhonda Eddy-Stienecker.

Estimated revenues for 2018 is just under 24 million dollars, and estimated expenditures are just over 27 million dollars, with a 1.9 million dollar carry-over.
