Selling your home this summer may be the right move. That’s according to local realty experts and some national studies.

In June the market saw a 3.5% increase in the number of sales compared to June 2016.

July on the other hand realtors began to see the number of available homes go down. They saw 7% fewer listings than last year, but 5% more sales.

Tim Stanford, Vice President at Superior said in July of last year homes lasted an average of 146 days on market. This year it was down to 97. So it took 50% longer to sell your house this time last year.

With those numbers in mind, Stanford says right now it’s sellers that have the upper hand.

“The real estate market is always in flux. What you really see is the transition from a few years ago coming out of the recession when it was a buyers market to where now it’s a sellers market. That if your’e thinking at all about selling a house, now is a really good time to be able to get it on the market. That there are a lot of people out there looking and you should be able to see a good appreciation in the value," said Stanford.

Stanford said the best first step to sell your home now is to contact a realtor so they can help to get your house prepared.
