A topic that has been on the minds of many lawmakers as of late has been that of healthcare, and Ohio Governor John Kasich is no exception.

With tension between both sides of Congress keeping any changes from being made in the nation's healthcare, Gov. Kasich has noted the bipartisan effort here in Ohio and he speculates bipartisanship may help get things done.

"We have to move to a point where we pay for quality, not the quantity, not for how much we get, but how healthy we're able to stay," Gov. Kasich said.  "That's all going to require us to work together."

The Governor believes that both sides working together could be a very real possibility in the future.

"I'm hopeful that we're going to see some bipartisanship - I've been pushing it on all the national new shows, everything I do, my writing, everything else, but we're just going to have to wait and see," said Gov. Kasich.

Recently Gov. Kasich spoke in his "State of the State" address about the future of jobs and innovation here in Ohio - and he says he's looking forward what kinds of new jobs can change here in the state.

"We're pulling together all the industry people, major industries in the state, and having them telling us what they see, giving us a forecast, so we can make sure that we begin to get our young people the skills they need and even those that are middle-aged, the skills the need to anticipate the future," said Gov. Kasich.

With new opportunities being created often for Ohioans, like the recently opened amazon distribution center in central Ohio, Gov. Kasich says that Ohio has gained about half a million jobs since he's been in office.  One of the biggest efforts for jobs that Gov. Kasich has pushed for is diversifying the state's economy and that effort has been successful.

"Ohio is changing to some degree; we're still heavy in manufacturing, but now we have technology coming, we have more healthcare companies coming, so we're beginning to see a change of the make up of the economy of the state," said Gov. Kasich.

Gov. Kasich plans to focus on preparing for new jobs as part of the final year and a half of his administration.
