New renovations preparing to take place at a downtown Lima building in hopes of bringing new life to the city.

Pursuit 3, a cooperative of Walter Development and Trisco Systems announce their plans to renovate the Metro Center on North Elizabeth in loft-style apartments. The group proceeds to work with architecture and construction companies regarding a variety of different floor plans for the apartments. The lofts will bring a more upscale living arrangement to downtown, aimed at mainly at millennials looking to rent rather than buy a home.

"That particular age group is hurting as far as trying to find places to live, especially places to purchase, so they're more inclined to rent something and this style in especially in a lot of larger cities is what everybody prefers. We've done our history and our homework on that," said Steve Walters, General Partner, Pursuit 3 LLC.

Other cities, such as Fort Wayne, Indiana and Cincinnati found new life by adding downtown living areas. Pursuit 3 hopes Lima can follow suit.

"We're hoping that we provide the catalyst with this downtown living to turn Lima back into the bustling downtown that it was at one time. The time's now," commented Bill Walters, General Partner, Pursuit 3 LLC.

The first floor of the building will also be renovated into a business mall so small businesses in the area can conduct new operations. The Lima Symphony Orchestra office will continue to do business in the building.
