The Hancock County Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services held an informational workshop for community to provide up-to-date narcotic information.

Operation Street Smart provided adult drug education, Sergeant Dan Johnson from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office says the event keeps parents in the loop.

"If you have somebody in your world that's using a drug, chances are you're never going to find that drug, or you may find the drug sometime later down the line but firsts what you're going to find is the paraphernalia or some other little artifact of the drug use left behind," says Sgt. Johnson.

The event informs adults on what to look for and how to spot anyone who might be using and abusing, and parents find the workshop very helpful.

"I'm learning some things that's like 'wow these kids are smart' not just the kids but those who are pushing it on our kids you know they're looking for all kind of new and different ways to get our kids on their stuff so they can get money," says Juanita young, Parent.

Tony Grotrian lost a loved one to opiate addiction and ever since he's been attending working like this.

"It claimed my grandson's life back in 2009 and ever since then I've been doing things to help create community awareness," says Grotrian.

He feels that if he would of known then what he knows now, maybe things would of turned out differently.

"I learned a lot from them and I continue to learn a lot from them but yeah had I known 8 years ago what I know today, I can't put that into words," says Grotrian.

"Yeah, it definitely brings awareness to our community to better serve individuals who are in addiction or recovery as well," says Miranda Tippie, University of Findlay.

"Parent's, period need to be aware," says Young.
