With the opioid epidemic throughout the state, Ohio Governor John Kasich says his administration is working against opioid abuse.

Gov. Kasich says that the state has spent about a billion dollars in the eight years that they have been fighting against opioid abuse, and that they are doing what they can to stop those that are bringing opioids into the state as well as providing treatment to those that have been affected.

While the state is trying hard to prevent opioid abuse, Gov. Kasich says it's important to start prevention at home.

"At the end of it all, it's what happens in our families, what happens in our schools, our social clubs, in our churches - this is where we have to give people the resilience to know that if you had down that path, you may never come back," Gov. Kasich said.

Gov. Kasich also says that Ohio doctors are now limited in how many opioid prescriptions they can give to patients.
