Great day for a train ride through West Central Ohio

All Aboard! The Allen County Museum giving people the chance to experience local history.

This is the 4th time that the museum has hosted their “Ridin’ the Rails” event.  People were able to get on the train at Lincoln park and travel a 42 mile round trip to Jackson Center and back.

Allen County is rich with Railroad history, from the Locomotive Works to Lima having the first successful street railway.  So today's trip celebrates that history and giving enthusiast the chance to take a trip that is pretty unique today.

Pat Smith,  Director of the  Allen County Museum says “This is a chance for people to take a step back in time, and find out what it was like just to ride the railroads. Things our parents and grandparents, great grandparents took for granted.  Much like how we took our cars for granted today."

People also got the chance to check out the Shay train exhibit that is housed at the park.  Proceeds from Sunday's train ride benefits the Allen County Historical Society and Museum.
