Calvin Goode has been making baked goods for his family with his grandmother's recipes for years.  His family said that he should try to get those recipes out to the rest of the country, so Goode sent in his idea to Shark Tank and heard back quickly.

"I got a phone call back in about 10 minutes and they wanted to know about my sweet potato pie, so I called them back, and they said they had a board meeting coming up about the pies and that it would be nice if they had pies there to taste," Goode said.  "I cooked about four pies overnight and shipped them out overnight - they got to California and I got thumbs up and a contract through Shark Tank."

Now Goode's baked treats like sweet potato pie and peach cobbler will be sold at Costco stores nationwide.  Goode says that this success didn't happen overnight - it took a lot to get to where he is today.

"It took years and years - I didn't know how to cook - but sometimes we do things, we have to change our life, and I kind of had to change my life in two years; I got in a little trouble, but I changed my life, and this is what I'm doing now," said Goode.

He says it's exciting to know that his food will be available for lots of people, but he's still focusing on his community here in Lima.

"I'd like for other people to come in with me to do things better for the city, change the life of the city," said Goode.  "If I could do it, I know you can do it, don't ever think you can't do it, because things I've been through my life and I had to change my life."

California Goode's pies and cakes will start to be available in Costco stores around Thanksgiving.
