The plans to update part of the City of Lima's Hall of Justice have been approved.

The city's design review board looked at the plans Thursday afternoon, which involve adding new men and women's locker rooms, a new detective area, and updating electrical and heating systems.  The project is around 2 million dollars and is expected to be finished in May of next year.

Those involved with the project say that they are determined to keep the building looking uniform and are excited to get the renovation underway in October.

"Basically we're sticking with the same architecture of the building, and so when you drive by today and drive by 12 months from now, we hope that you don't notice that one part is newer than the other," said Kirk Niemeyer, a city engineer.  "It's always a milestone to get the project bit out, and the contractors lined up, and get the work going."

The design review board also discussed a project involving a request from the Allen County RTA to demolish buildings for a parking lot. The board is still considering the request.
