A medical condition caused a Delphos woman to crash into an Elida Road business around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.

A blue Honda Civic driven by a 55-year-old Kim Elwer of Delphos ramped over the curb at the Tim Hortons on Elida Road, crashing into the tables and chairs on the patio before slamming into the building near the store's entrance. American Township Police say Elwer suffered a seizure which caused the accident. Some of the tables and chairs on the patio of the business were destroyed and a few were sent more than 50 feet across the parking lot. One glass panel was shattered and there was structural damage to the building. The front end of the car was heavily damaged and had to be towed. Elwer was taken to St. Rita's for treatment. There were workers and customers inside the building, but no one was injured.

The store did close for a short time Friday morning, but has reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
