A 100 year old tradition continued on Sunday evening at Gomer Congregational Church.

The traditional Gymanfa Ganu, or singing festival, brought together the community of Gomer to celebrate their Welsh heritage as well as the anniversary of the organ being installed within the church.  Those in attendance sang Welsh hymns together as part of the festival, which reflects the importance of tradition in Gomer.

"I think tradition is a big part of any community, Gomer is a small community, we were settled back in the 1800s, so this is just something that keeps the Welsh tradition - because there aren't too many Welsh people left - but it keeps the Welsh tradition alive in this community," said Tim Larimore, president of the Gomer Senior Choir.

The guest director for the event was Trefor Williams, a conductor that was born in Wales.  This is the sixth Gomer Gymanfa Ganu that Williams has directed.
