A team of six airmen from the Ohio Air National Guard is going to Puerto Rico to aid in hurricane relief efforts.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico is still in need of water, food, and shelter for those affected. The 179th Airlift Wing out of Mansfield is sending a fourth aircraft to the island to help. The team is taking with them a Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) which they will use to produce clean drinking water for Puerto Rican communities over the coming months. The ROWPU can clean up to 1,500 gallons of water per hour. It can take water from raw sources like wells, seas, rivers, and oceans to make safe for human consumption.

Right now about 90% of Puerto Rico remains without power after the Sept. 20 hurricane.
