Authorities are hard at work in Celina after a tornado touched down Sunday.

According to city officials, the tornado hit part of the city around 3:30 p.m., causing damage to businesses and shutting down power all around Celina.  Since then, crews from the state and county have been working to get things back up and running, and city officials are urging citizens to be safe as things are getting back under control.

"At this point we are really hoping that people stay home - don’t come out to take a look, it’s not worth it to get in the way of repair crews and emergency crews," said Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel.  "We have the Ohio State Highway Patrol out as well our own Mercer County Sheriff is dealing with a lot of things throughout the county in addition to assisting us in Celina, and for that we're very, very grateful."

"The most important thing is it looks like we dodged a bullet, we don’t have any real significant injuries, and right now it’s rebuilding things, and things can be replaced," said State Rep. Keith Faber.

City officials say that schools will be cancelled Monday, November 6th in Celina and it may be a day or two for power to return to parts of the city.  The Celina Mayor says he will be declaring a state of emergency.
